At an early age Ada was converted and became a member of Gold Hill AME Zion Church and was a faithful member.
She received her elementary education at Gold Hill Grammar School. She received her high school education at Clinton Normal and Industrial High School, graduating as valedictorian on April 26,
1944. After graduation, Ada left South Carolina and went to live with her Aunt Hattie in New York City to get a job and earn money to go to college. After two years she returned home and moved to Charlotte N.C.
Ada was joined in holy matrimony to Willie "Bill" Reid on March 26, 1949; they were married until his death on February 13, 1977.

After working under an owner of a Beauty Salon, God blessed her to become the proud owner of The Pasadena Beauty Salon near Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, NC. Ada retired in 2003, selling and closing the shop.
Ada then converted a spare bedroom in her home into a shop and continued to service her loyal customers doing the work she loved until the age of 90 years old. In the year 2000, the City of Charlotte recognized her as a registered business owner for forty-five years.
Ada was committed to God, loyal to her family, and dedicated to her Church. She served as the Financial Secretary for 46 years and sang in the Senior Choir until her health began to decline.
Ada believed in improving and advancing herself. In 1996, at the age of 72, she participated in a free after-hours typing class at Tryon Hills Elementary School in Charlotte. In 2003, at the age of 79, she attended CPCC studying computer training.
Ada was a giving person by assisting others financially and encouraging others to continue to excel in all they do. She welcomed into her home a very special goddaughter, Queenetta Morrison Adams, while she attended Johnson C Smith University.
