A Time to Be Born….
Alberta Benjamin Wright, daughter of the late Rev. Foster R. Benjamin and Dorothy Mobley Benjamin, was born March 26, 1936, in York County, SC. She was preceded in death by her brother, LW Benjamin, sister, Dolores “Moote” Miller, and son-in-law, Bennie Bennett.
A Time to Plant…
Alberta attended the rural schools in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
A Time to Worship…
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Langrum Branch Baptist Church in York, SC. Later she joined Pineville A.M.E. Zion Church where her father pastored for over 27 years. She worked in several capacities: Stewardess Board, Gospel Choir, Hymn Choir, and the Missionaries. Alberta reunited with Langrum Branch in her later years. She faithfully attended Sunday School, Bible Study and was a part of the Missionaries as well.
A Time to Work…
For many years she was a domestic worker. She retired from Norton Hand Protection where she made gloves. Alberta was a woman of many talents. An excellent seamstress, she was known for the many tops, dresses and suits she made for family and friends. She was also a wonderful cook, and her beautifully decorated Christmas tree was always delightful.
A Time to Love….
She married Benjamin F. Wright Jr. on December 1, 1957. This union of 66 years was blessed with one daughter.
A Time to Die…
On Thursday afternoon, November 30, 2023, at The Ivy of Gastonia, NC, Alberta answered her call to be with the Lord.
A Time to Mourn…
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Benjamin Wright Jr. of the home; daughter, Frankie Wright Bennett of Lake Wylie, SC; brother, Foster Benjamin Jr. (Dorothy) of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Benjamin Kelly Bennett of Lake Wylie, SC and Brittany Kyla Bennett of Rural Hall, NC; special grandson, Jabbar Stackston of Spring, TX; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Bailey Jerolamon and Jordan Karter Bodah; sisters-in-law, Barbara Benjamin, Amarintha W. Whitener, Ernestine Wright, and Peggy J. Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
