A godly life ended on Thursday, June 27, 2024 when Andrenna Celeste Boyd transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father.
Andrenna Celestè Boyd was born February 26, 1990, to Malinda Boyd and Lesley Laprade, Sr in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Drenna accepted Christ at the early age of 5 years old on September 25, 1995. She became a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverand Clyde Raymond. Drenna served Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in many capacities until her death. Over the years, Drenna served as an usher and a member of the Pleasant Praisers. She sung on the Gospel and Youth Choirs, and she restarted Children's Church in 2012.
Drenna completed her education in the Rock Hill School District 3, and graduated from Northwestern High School in 2008. After high school, she attended Clemson University majoring in Microbiology-Biomedicine. While at Clemson, Drenna was initiated into the Lambda Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on April 5, 2009. She was the fifth Marvel of the 36 Marvels of SophistAKAtion. Unfortunately, Drenna had to withdraw from Clemson in 2012.
After her time at Clemson, she earned her phlebotomy license at Carolinas College of Health Sciences. She was a professional Cheerleader for the Carolina Hounds Lacrosse team and Volunteered as a Cheerleading Coach for South Pointe Middle School.
Last year, Drenna began attending Winthrop University to major in Biology and minor in Spanish. Drenna played the cello in the Winthrop Symphony Orchestra, and her last performance was on April 2, 2024. She was expected to graduate from Winthrop, May 2025. Drenna was involved in various college societies, including the Psi Chapter of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, and the National Honor Society.
When Drenna returned to Rock Hill, she joined the Eta Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Drenna was the 2020 South Carolina Miss Amazing Sr. Miss Queen, and the 2020 National Miss Amazing Sr. Miss Queen. She traveled to Nashville Tennessee to accept her national crown.
Some of Drenna's beloved family members preceded her in death: her father, Lesley Laprade Sr; grandfather, Randolph Boyd; and Aunt Christine Pettus. She leaves in cherished memory her mother, Malinda Boyd; grandmother, Ella Jane Boyd; siblings, Adrian (Anitra) Boyd, Sharon (Willford) Bailey, Michelle Pendergrass, Andre Laprade, and Kevin Laprade; nieces, Maya Pendergrass and Samantha Pendergrass; nephews, Will Bailey and Noah Bailey; aunts, Johnnie Mae Ragsdale and Rebecca Barnes; uncles, Paul Laprade and Robert Laprade; godfather, Willie Wade; godmother, Paulette Barber; the Wade family-Michelle (Eric) Lawhorn, Jessica Wade, Jonathan Wade; best friends, Madison Montemayor and Megan Wilson; other extended family, cousins, friends, and the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Family. Her legacy will live on through all the lives she has touched.
