Ms. Angela Yvonne Heath McFayden was born on December 12, 1964 in Winnsboro, SC to the late Faye Allen, Sr. and Mary Beatrice Gaither Heath. Affectionally known as "Von", Angela grew up in the company of many of her first cousins and remained close to them until the end. After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Angela made her heavenly transition on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Atrium Health, Pineville, NC surrounded by loving family members. Angela's parents raised her in the Baptist faith beginning at the family's home church of Weeping Mary Baptist in White Oak, SC. As an adult, she attended various churches in Rock Hill, most often Boyd Hill Baptist but never joined to become a member.
She instilled in her children an abiding faith in God and respect for all mankind. When she was a young girl, Angela's family moved to Rock Hill, SC where she graduated from Northwestern High School in 1983. At Northwestern, she was very active in sports, displaying her talents in basketball, volleyball and on the track team and also the Boyd Hill swim team.
Angela loved to dance and was the "life of the party" as she enjoyed social activities with family and friends After high school, Angela started a career in food service management and worked at various companies, including Jim Baker's PTL. During this time, she also welcomed her eldest daughter, Ebony, into the world with her high school sweetheart, John Newman. In her free time, she enjoyed doing hair, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends, including her best friend of 44 years, Vicky Ware. Angela had "miracle" hands because of how she could grip the shortest hair to help make it grow. As she entered her thirties, Angela married John "Jack" McFadyen and to this union were born two children, Cameron and Mariah. Years afterwards, she experienced great loss upon the death of her mother, then husband but she always managed to put her best foot forward. Later on, she reconnected with her first love, John Newman, with whom she spent the last 23 years of her life watching crime documentaries, loving on her dogs, Oreo and Chance, and having fun sleepovers with her grandchildren. Her granddaughter Kamryn, who brought her great joy as she came to live with her and help around the house, could always be trusted to be by her grandmother's side.
Angela was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, John "Jack" McFadyen, sister, Rosa Diane Heath Burris, brother, Thomas A. "Lip" Heath, five aunts and seven uncles.
Left to celebrate and honor Angela's earthly life are: her devoted companion of 33 years, John E. Newman; two daughters, Ebony, Mariah; three bonus daughters, Shetima, Erica, and Ayana; one son, Cameron; three bonus sons, Devin, Javaris and Hakeem; twelve grandchildren; four brothers, Faye A. (Geraldine) Heath, Jr., Philliph E. Heath, Reginald V. (Thelma) Heath, and Antonio S. (Gloria) Heath; ten aunts, six uncles; one great uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
