Ashley Janis Delahoussaye, a beloved daughter and lively spirit, passed away on May 24, 2024. Ashley was known for being unapologetically herself,radiating joy and wisdom beyond her years to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her first name, Ashley, means "ash tree clearing," while her last name, Delahoussaye, translates to "by the holy bush." This beautiful combination serves as a comforting reminder to her family that she now rests peacefully by the Lord's side.
Ashley's passion for hair styling shone through in her entrepreneurial spirit. Whenever she had spare time from her part-time job, she dedicated herself to braiding hair, showcasing her creativity and skill.
As a charter member of Indian Land High School Blusquad, Ashley found great joy in dancing alongside her classmates. Her vibrant personality and occasional sassy attitude towards her coach will always be remembered fondly.
From a young age, Ashley embraced a strong work ethic, starting part-time at Showmar's at 15 and later working at Harris Teeter at 17. Her determination and dedication were admirable.
Family meant the world to Ashley. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones, whether it was going to the beach, island-hopping on cruises with her parents in the Bahamas and Caribbean, or simply enjoying daddy-daughter bonding time. From road trips and dining out to church visits and shopping at outlets, Ashley and her father created countless precious memories together.
Known for her wise advice, sassy side-eye, and witty remarks that could both cut deep and make you laugh uncontrollably, Ashley's presence always left a lasting impact on those around her. She had a bright future ahead, with numerous plans and aspirations for her college years. Ashley was blessed to be accepted at 6 colleges throughout the Carolinas. She decided and convinced her "parentals" that she should attend Coastal Carolina in Conway, SC which she was set to attend Fall 2024.
Ashley's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding presence in the lives she touched.
Ashley Delahoussaye leaves to celebrate her life and cherish memories: her beloved mother, Nyma Delahoussaye; her doting father, Anthony Delahoussaye; her sister Tamia and two brothers, Anthony and Joshua; niece, Brinley and nephew, Jaiden; aunts, Barbara Irons, Tonia Wolfe, Kenya Barksdale; grandmother, Maxine Randall; grandfather, Marlo Randall; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and childhood friends.
