Mr. Benjamin Franklin Wright, Jr., son of the late Benjamin J. Wright and the late Mary Beaty Wright, was born on August 1, 1935, in York County, South Carolina. He peacefully departed this life on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Wellmore of Tega Cay.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mrs. Alberta Benjamin Wright; his parents; and his sisters, Ms. Sarah E. Wright and Ms. Peggy J. Wright.

Benjamin was affectionately known as "Ben" by his friends, but to his family he was lovingly called "Sonny Boy," "Daddy," "PawPaw," and "Uncle Sonny." He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955.

At an early age, Benjamin accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at St. James United Methodist Church in York, South Carolina. He remained a faithful and dedicated member until his health declined. Throughout the years, he faithfully served the church in numerous capacities, including Trustee, member of the Finance Committee, United Methodist Men, Adult Sunday School Class member, and Church Custodian. Benjamin was also a proud member of the United Men's Club of Clover and Wilson Lodge No. 303.

His strong work ethic was evident throughout his career. He began working at Roosevelt Tire Service before joining Akers Motor Lines as a dock worker. His passion for the trucking industry eventually led him to Consolidated Freightways, where he fulfilled his dream of becoming an over-the-road truck driver. Benjamin truly loved life on the open road behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. Following his retirement from trucking, he worked at ADESA Auto Auction. His love for driving never faded, prompting him to come out of retirement to serve as a truck driving instructor for TransTech, Inc., where he shared his knowledge and experience with future drivers.

Outside of work, Benjamin had a deep passion for farming. Each spring he eagerly prepared his fields and planted a garden that became the envy of family and neighbors alike. His sweet corn and field peas were neighborhood favorites and were enjoyed by many.

On December 1, 1957, Benjamin married Alberta Benjamin Wright. Their beautiful union of 66 years was blessed with one daughter, and together they built a legacy of love, faith, and family.

Benjamin leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted daughter, Frankie Wright Bennett of Lake Wylie, SC; two sisters, Amarintha W. Whitener and Ernestine Wright, both of Clover, SC; two grandchildren, Benjamin Kelly Bennett of Clover, SC, and Brittany Kyla Bennett of Charlotte, NC; a special grandson, Jabbar Stackston of Spring, TX; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Bailey Jerolamon, Jordan Karter Bodah, and Brayden Dexter Bennett; one brother-in-law, Foster Benjamin, Jr. (Dorothy) of Bowie, MD; one sister-in-law, Barbara Benjamin of Rock Hill, SC; his goddaughter, Michelle Alexander Brown; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
