Mr. Bennie Green Thompson was born April 21, 1951 in Chester, South Carolina to the late Mr. James Thompson and Hazel Lee Blake Thompson-Hall (step-father Herman Hall). He departed this life on September 9, 2025 at Carolina Medical Center, Pineville, NC.
At an early age he joined the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. D. Rucker. He is a graduate of Emmett Scott High School.
Mr. Thompson completed training as a Masonry Contractor specializing in building and repairing structures made of brick, stone, and other masonry. He relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and resided until his death.
Mr. Bennie had a love for Music. He started out at a young age beating on tin cans as a Drum. Later on in life he played the drums for Mt. Zion Rock Grove Church of God. He also played drums with a group called “The Transactions”. They played in clubs in North Carolina and South Carolina. Mr. Thompson wrote poems and received financial gain after musical companies excepted the poems.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death five siblings, Dorothy Blake, Janie Thompson, Dr. James Marvin Thompson, Willie C. Thompson, Dennis Thompson.
Mr. Thompson leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Charlotte Douglas of Rock Hill, SC; an adopted daughter, Lacharta (Peaches) Douglas Hinton (Alvin) of Blythewood, SC; two grandchildren:; Ashley Archie Hernandez (Anthony) of Fort Mill, SC and Darius Archie of Rock Hill, SC; three great-grandchildren, Azriel Archie, Dakota Archie and Demi Archie of whom he loved; son-in-law, Darian Archie of Rock Hill, SC; brothers, Henry Thompson of Charlotte, NC, Robert Thompson of Rock Hill, SC and Larry Thompson of Tacoma, WA; sisters, Audrey Smalls (William) of Columbia, SC, Debroah A. Thompson of Rock Hill, SC; adopted sister, Minister Vernell McCullough of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Joyce Thompson of Charlotte, NC; former sisters and brothers-in-law: Vera Thompson, Diane Thompson, Carolyn W. Watlington (Bishop Norman Watlington), Larry Barnette and Alice Douglas, a friend since high school days, and the mother of his only daughter; best friend, Johnny Green who stood by him during all his illness; cousins, nieces, nephews, and caring friends, whom he loved dearly.
