It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Brittany Shawntavia Barber, born in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Brittany was the beloved daughter of Gloria Barber and Robert McCloud Jr.
Family meant everything to Brittany. She was the glue that kept everyone connected, the one who everyone called and made sure everyone showed up. She loved hard, spoke her mind, and always said what others were thinking, whether you were ready to hear it or not.
Brittany grew up in Rock Hill, attending Rock Hill High School, where she built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her drive and determination led her to become the proud owner of Barber Quality Cleaning, a business that reflected her unmatched work ethic and commitment to excellence.
A woman of style and strength, Brittany loved fashion, laughter, and family gatherings that always turned into full-blown celebrations. Her presence filled every room, and her love for those close to her will never fade.
Brittany was preceded in death by her beloved cousin, Latressy Barber; her grandmothers, Janet Barber and Martha McCullough; and her grandfathers, Robert McCloud Sr. and Thomas Barber Sr. She is survived by her loving family, including her brother, Christopher Barber; her sister, Laquandra Barber; her infamous cherished dog, Diamond; and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her. Her nieces include Chauntell Barber, Cania Ashley, Ivy Barber, Christian Barber, and Caniya Thompson, while her nephews are Ladonathon Hutchison, Camerin Ashley, Ivan Barber, Ian Barber, and Cree Barber. Brittany was also a devoted godmother to Marquell Barber, Jaqualine Barber, and Jaylan Barber.
Brittany was also blessed with a rich family network, including aunts Jacqueline Mills, Lasalle Foster, Mary Dereef, and Juliette Cunningham, and her uncle, Thomas Barber Jr. She shared a particularly close relationship with her cousins, Ditravious Barber, Jadarylls Barber, Latocha Johnson, Chanette Barber, Fontaine Cunningham, Marquis Dereef, Lathomas Long, Lajasmine Nelson, Kiara Long, Rakeem Streeter, and Tiffany Cunningham, and Unadre McMillan all of whom will carry her memories in their hearts. The love of her life and special friend, Ricky Odom, stood by her side through thick and thin, and their bond brought joy to both their lives.
As we gather to remember Brittany, let us hold close the memories of her laughter, her love for fashion, her culinary delights, and her indelible spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and joy that will forever reso-nate within her family and community. Brittany Shawntavia Barber, you are loved and will be deeply missed by all. May you rest in peace.
