Caldonia Erby Shannon

Caldonia Erby Shannon was born on November 9, 1942, in Rock Hill, South Carolina to the late Melvin Erby, Sr. and Sallie Thompson Ashley. She was preceded in death by Henry Shannon; two children, Ricky King, Sr. and Darlene King; and three siblings, Alice Tate, Harrison Erby, and Melvin Erby, Jr.

Though named Caldonia, she was affectionately known as Carolyn. She attended the Rock Hill Public Schools and went on to work with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Authority and Bayada Nursing, within the healthcare sector for many years. Her last job was with Visiting Angels.

Carolyn became a Seventh Day Adventist in the carly 60's, and joined Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was a very active member, singing on the Gospel Choir and serving on the Usher Board. She even taught the lower Sabbath School Primary class. Carolyn remained a devoted Christian woman, spreading the Gospel of the Lord's second coming to all she encountered until her last breath on the day she loved the most, the Sabbath.

Carolyn leaves to cherish fond memories, her children, Vicky King, Timmy King (Carla), Jimmie King(Queen), and Tony King; ten grandchildren, Montrey Bost, Sr., Monte King (Shawanna), Shaitha Yeargin, Timetreus Nichols, Sheena R. Lewis (Ron), Sherina Bost, Jamaine King, LeCoCo King Givens, Shamarri King Samedy (Mathias), Ricky King, Jr.; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Erby and George Erby; and a host of other relatives and friends.
