Clementine Barnette Mitchell

Mrs. Clementine B. Mitchell, 74, of 1280 Holland Rd. Rock Hill, South Carolina was born October 15, 1951 in York County, SC. She was the wife of Jimmie Mitchell and the daughter of the late James C. Barnette and the late Essie Mae MeMoore Barnette. God quietly called her to eternal rest on Saturday, March 1, 2026 at Atrium Health Carolina Medical Center Main.

Mrs. Mitchell joined Mount Hebron Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined Pineville AME Zion, then returned to her family church of Mount Hebron Baptist Church. She attended the public schools of York County and graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1970. Mrs. Mitchell continued her education and acquired her Accounting/Business Certifications at the Career Development Center in Rock Hill in 1986 and Business Development and Nursing Assistant Certifications at York Technical College in Rock Hill respectively in 1991 and 2001.

Mrs. Mitchell utilized her educational skills to advance her profession in various fields of Business Administration, Quality Control, Recruiting Clerk, Medical Healthcare, and Customer Service.

She was the mother of Marilyn Mitchell Gilmore, Jimmy Lewis Mitchell, Tabitha S. Lee, Arnette (Teri) Benjamin, Tonya S. Benjamin (Gerardo Salinas) and many of those she took under her wing. She is the Grandmother of Britney Lee (Earl Clark, Jr), Brandon Lee, Breahna Lee, Breyounce Lee (Tabitha) and Zoie Benjamin (Tonya). She was the Great Grandmother of Ka'Maya Gill, Kamen Lee-Clark, Kayden Lee-Clark, Kolston Lee-Clark, Kendrick Lee-Clark, Ka'Mora Lee-Clark, Kova Lee-Clark, Kourage Lee-Clark, Kyro Lee-Clark (Britney), Nataly Lee (Brandon) and Great-Great grandmother to Malakai Anthony (Ka'Maya).

Clementine was a feisty, caring, and fun-loving person. She always stepped in without asking and did whatever had to be done. She loved her family and would do whatever she could to help a family member. Clem was a God fearing, God loving woman who always gave words of advice and wisdom (whether it was wanted or not) and always had a listening car. The biggest lesson she wanted everyone to learn was to treat others with respect, show understanding, and lead with love. She was loved and adored by many and will be missed by those whose lives she touched.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her three sisters - Mae Etta B. Caldwell (Horace), Deborah B.

Berry, and Azalee W. "Mook" Stewart (Junior) and two brothers James C. Barnette and Dewey O Barnette and great-great grandson, Kasai Anthony (Ka'Maya). She is survived by three brothers - Charles. R. Barnette, Lorenzo "Mack" Barnette (Julia) and Deacon Steven A. Barnette (Debra) all of Rock Hill, SC; four sisters - Donetta B. Smith (Murrie), Angela F. Barnette all of Rock Hill, SC and Brenda S. Barnette both of Charlotte, NC and brother-in-law- Robert L. Berry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
