David Matthew Mccray

David Matthew McCray transitioned from this life to eternal rest on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Piedmont Medical Center.  He was born on June 2, 1976 in Bronx, NY and was one of six children born to the late Robert Lee McCray and Martha Knox McCray.

​David was educated in the public schools of York County, SC. He graduated from Northwestern High School and continued his education at York Technical College and Winthrop University.

​David’s most recent job was in the Deli Department at Walmart, where he greeted everyone with a warm smile.  He was known for being a kind, helpful, friendly and a hard worker.  David enjoyed cooking and gardening. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

​David was preceded in death by his parents: Robert L. McCray and Martha Knox McCray.

​He leaves to cherish his memories; one brother, Steven McCray of Rock Hill, SC; three sisters, Rhonda M. Coleman, Jacqueline McCray, Sylvia McCray and Evelyn McCray all of Rock Hill; two uncles, Robert Knox, Jr. (Eldora) and Herbert Knox, Sr. (Ruby) all of Rock Hill, SC; four aunts, Barbara K. Ellerbe, Evator K. Gadson, Darlene Knox and Cathy Knox all of Rock Hill, SC; five nephews, DeAngelo Mobley, Marquis McCray, Lamar McCray, Tony J. Coleman and Keyshawn Barnette all of Rock Hill, SC; four nieces, Candace McCray, Asia McCray, Whitney McCray and MiKayla McCray all of Rock Hill, SC and a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
