Doris Mazette Simpson

August 4, 1945 — January 26, 2024

Ms. Doris Mazette Simpson of Rock Hill, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest peacefully at the home of her Mrs. Shirley Guyton Simpson on Friday, January 26, 2024, in the afternoon.

Ms. Simpson, the daughter of the late Rayford and Jessie Simpson, was born August 4, 1945 in Rock Hill, South Carolina and spent her life in that area, where she gained recognition as an educator in the Rock Hill School district.  Her students loved her.
Doris was a graduate of Rock Hill’s Emmett Scott High School, and a member of the class of 1963.  Her love for education inclined her to attend South Carolina State University, where she majored in elementary education.  She continued her education by receiving her master's degree from Hampton University in that same area of study.

Doris loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of New Mt. Olivet African Methodist Episcopal Zion church and served faithfully until her illness. Doris was a member of the church’s Sanctuary Choir and faithfully served on the Culinary Committee.  She was also a member of the OWLS organization.
Doris is a proud Soror of the Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

As the curtain is drawn on her life, she leaves in possession of her precious memories the following: Nephews Ronnie Simpson and, Thomas Simpson (Melanie), Bobby C. Simpson, Bernard C. Simpson, Niece Bridgette Simpson Bentley, and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Simpson (Lillian), Barber Simpson (Carolyn) and nephew Jean-Paul Simpson.
