Douglas Norman Love, 77, of Rock Hill, South Carolina was born on June 14,1948, in Winder, Georgia, to the late Fannie Mae Blakely. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Love and Connie Evans.
Douglas embraced his Christian faith early in life and remained steadfast in his devotion throughout the years. For many years, he was a member of Family of God Church of God in Christ, in Gainesville, Georgia. In 2018, he moved back to Rock Hill, South Carolina and became a faithful member of Trinity Fellowship Church, where he served diligently and with great joy.
Douglas began his education in the Barrow County Public Schools in Georgia. Later, his family relocated to Rock Hill, South Carolina, where he continued his studies in the York County Public Schools. As a young man, he proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army, where he served with honor and dedication. Following his service, Douglas returned home to Georgia to reconnect with his beloved family and the community that had shaped him.
Douglas was hardworking, very resourceful, and known for his strong work ethic and his many talents. In his later years, he dedicated himself to his craft as a skilled handyman there was truly little he could not fix. His willingness to lend a helping hand and his pride in a job well done reflected the depth of his character and his generous spirit.
Douglas lived life on his own terms with joy, humor, and stories that will be cherished and retold for generations to come. Those who knew him will remember his vibrant personality and his even bigger heart. Wherever he went, laughter followed. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like family. He adored his three grandsons, who were the light of his life and his greatest source of joy. He found peace in fishing, happiness in firing up the grill, and pride in sharing his famous ribs and barbecue chicken with family and friends. A true Southern gentleman and adventurer at heart, Douglas was a devoted Atlanta Falcons fan, a car enthusiast, and a traveler who enjoyed exploring new places and meeting new people. He was truly a man full of life, laughter, and love.
Douglas peacefully entered eternal rest on November 2, 2025. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughter, Sabrina Love-Sloan (Andre’) of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandsons, Kyle of Brooklyn, New York; Kingston of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Konnor of Charlotte, North Carolina; siblings, Mary Lumpkin, Alvin Evans, Jackie McRae (David), Paris Welborn (Larry), Cathy Colts (Steve), Kelly Lyle (David), Linda Cameron (Tim), Johnny Love, and Mack Love; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Douglas, AKA “Little Walter”, will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, laughed loudly, and lived boldly. His spirit will continue to shine through the memories and smiles he left behind.
