Florence Bailey Belton was born on September 18, 1920 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she was raised by her aunt Rosa and uncle Preas Miller.

Florence attended Emmett Scott school where she finished the 8th grade. She worked at York County Hospital briefly and attended Nazareth Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC.

She married Leroy Belton Sr. in December of 1939, and had two sons, Leroy Belton Jr. and Willie L. Belton.

Florence moved to Long Island, NY in 1957 and found employment as a live-in housekeeper for Mr. And Mrs.

Semour Tulls. Over the years, she formed a loving and caring relationship with this family and their children.

She was a faithful member of the South Hempstead Baptist Church where she served as an usher for 15 years.

Florence then retired and relocated back to Rock Hill, S.C.

She was 105 years old when she passed on July 27, 2026.

She was a loving sister, mother, and grandmother that loved her family dearly. She was always proud and spoke highly of them.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son Leroy Belton Jr.; daughter-in-law Betty Belton (Lois); two sisters, Emily and Kreola Bailey and two brothers, Odell and Thomas Bailey.

She had five grandsons, Derrick McCullough; Leroy Belton IIl; Willie L. Belton Jr.; Jeffrey Lassiter and wife Sharon;

Jerome Lassiter and wife Angelina; one granddaughter, Vivian

L. Rogers (Lady); and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
