Obituary


Mrs. Francis Cureton Rainey was born in York County to the late Frank Colvin and Rose Lee Colvin. Francis attended the public schools of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and was a proud graduate of Emmett Scott High School. She dedicated many years of service to the Rock Hill School District before retiring. Her commitment to serving others extended far beyond her career. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she, worshiped and served in many capacities with love and devotion. Known for her generous heart, Francis had a passion for helping others, especially children. She often volunteered her time serving free lunches in community parks throughout Rock Hill and supported many after-school programs ensuring children were cared for with kindness and dignity. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and faithful servant of God whose life was defined by compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her selfless spirit and caring nature left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Francis was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Annie Durham and Elizabeth Adams; William Durham, Isaac Durham, John Frank Colvin, L.J. Durham, and Equitty Durham; and her beloved grandchildren, Shemekia Hall and Roy Hall, Jr.

Left to cherish her precious memory: her daughters, Jacqueline Caldwell (Terry ) and Angela Colvin; her sons, Michael Colvin (Rhonda ) and James Cureton (Bridgetta ); her cherished grandchildren, Terry Caldwell, Norisha Caldwell, Laterica Caldwell, LaRoy Hall, Aaliyah Bell, Alison Canty, Joshua Hall, Zion White, Zane White, Austin Perry, Majestic Colvin, Michael Colvin, Jr., and Kia King; her treasured great-grandchildren, James Cureton III, Amani Pride, Jaiden Pride, Elijah Cureton, Braylon King, Liam Glanton, and Noah Glanton; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Mrs. Francis Cureton Rainey will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and love. Her legacy of service and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
