George Douglas “Doug” Jones

George Douglas “Doug” Jones was born to Lester and Rosa Mae Anderson Jones in York County, South Carolina on December 2, 1951.

Even as a child, “Doug” was the life of the room and would always look out for his siblings. He was educated in the schools of York County, South Carolina. He was a proud 1971 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He then began his journey in the work field with the latest being Celguard where he retired in or about 2015.

“Doug” loved sports. All sports. He was an avid fan of race track driving. He loved to watch the races. He also played baseball and softball. When he was not able to play anymore, he would go to the games and watch family and friends.

“Doug” was a lifelong member of Mount Calvary A. M. E. Zion Church. He always believed in God and in the power of prayer.

Mr. George Douglas “Doug” Jones quietly entered into eternal rest on August 1, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina with his family at his side. “Doug” was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Willie Ann Jones Brown and Rosa Patricia Jones; and his brothers, Lester Odell Jones and John C. “Jake” Jones.

Those left to celebrate his life and cherish his memories are his sisters; Frances J. Glenn, Janice M. Jones, Lisa J. (Dennis) Barnette, all of Rock Hill, SC; his brothers, Horace Anderson Jones, Thomas L. Jones all of Rock Hill, SC; and Louie Clayton (Jo Erica) Jones of Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Joyce L. Jones of Rock Hill, SC; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, a Goddaughter of whom he was very close, Jena Ross, her son Preston  (PJ) Walker, and “PJ’s” son, Pharoah Jayceon Walker. He also has other extended family and numerous classmates, church, neighborhood, and community friends.
