Gerard Sturdivant

Mr. Gerard Sturdivant , 61, of 1010 Village Green Lane, Rock Hill, SC received his final healing and last ride Friday, October 27, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Gerard was born on June 11, 1962, in Brooklyn, NY, to Ms. Callena Sturdivant and the late Mr. Sylvester Studivant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Nia Michelle Sturdivant, a brother: Charles Sturdivant, a grandmother: Elsie Dye Sturdivant, and aunt: Jewel Butler, father-in-law; George Cherry.

Gerard attended Bethel United Methodist Church; he later became a member of The Well Church where he faithfully, physically attended until his health declined. Gerard's career as a truck driver afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout the country which he really enjoyed. He retired from FedEx after several years of dedicated service. He enjoyed cooking, especially on the grill, frying chicken, fish, and shrimp and was an avid Pittsburg Steelers football fan. He enjoyed life, meeting new people and never met a stranger. Most important to him was his family whom he loved dearly. He relished his role as a father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, godfather, nephew, cousin, and true friend to all those who knew him.

Gerard, in addition to his mother, leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Wanda Cherry Sturdivant; son: Sulaiman Sturdivant, and step-son reared as his own, Laquis Cherry of Rock Hill; daughters: LaShanda Chambers and Tameka Mclaughlin of Charlotte, NC, Elisha Sturdivant of Rock Hill, SC; step-daughter, Michelle Chambers of Charlotte, NC. grandchildren: Angel Berry, Madison Dixon, and Elijah Reid of Charlotte, NC, Makayla Cherry and Carter Sturdivant of Rock Hill, SC. aunt: Ernestine Crowder; special niece; Tivia Cherry Williams (Sharod); special cousins: Margaret Brown, Dennis Crowder; special friend/brother: Antonio Hinton, Nieces/Nephews: Dominick Sturdivant, Nicholas Sturdivant, Charles Sturdivant, Milton "Trey" Cherry, Tavares (Linda) Cherry, Terese Pratt, Lauren Sturdivant, Chenille Brown, Josette Sturdivant, Derrick Studivant, Jr., Linda Cherry, great nieces/great nephews: Malik, Tammy, Maya, Anyah, Shamari, Shamya, Jalen, Legend, Kali, Ava, Skylar, Makayln, Haven, Pallas, Million, godchildren: Gerius Jones, Breana Jones, Malik Hinton.
