Gloria Jean Mobley Brown

Gloria Mobley Brown, 91, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away at Piedmont Medical Center on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.  Gloria, the youngest of 7 girls, and was born in Rock Hill, SC to the late Louie Laton Mobley and the late Ben Mobley.

She attended the public schools of Rock Hill and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from South Carolina State College and a Master of Education degree from Winthrop College.

Gloria, an educator, retired in 1992 after 34 years of dedicated service.  She also directed hundreds of weddings throughout the years, both within and outside of Rock Hill.

Growing up, Gloria and her family were members of New Mt. Olivet AME Zion Church.  After marrying Booker T. Brown, she became a member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, and later joined New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church.  Gloria was a proud Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Booker T. Brown; her parents, Louie and Ben Mobley; and her sisters, Bennie Seawright, Rosa Laton Armstead, Carrie Jerome Hampton, Vernal Alexander, Fredine Sloan, and Willie George White.

Gloria leaves to cherish fond memories daughters, Gloria "Chris" Brown Jackson, Louie Brown Mills (Joseph), and Michele Brown Good (Carl Watson); grandchildren, Devin Mills, Briana Good, Martin Jackson, Cameron Mills, and William "DJ" Good, Jr.; great grandson, Ashton Good; godson, Horace Goggins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
