Harriette Gilmore-Moore, 75, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, in her hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Born on June 21, 1951, Harriette lived a life defined by warmth, joy, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Harriette dedicated over 30 years of her life to nursing at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, alongside her esteemed work at the American Red Cross, Howard University Hospital and Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Her compassion and steady hands brought comfort to countless patients, and she graciously provided care to many throughout her neighborhood and community. She approached her work the same way she approached everything in life — with warmth, patience, and genuine care for others.

A woman of deep faith, Harriette was a devoted member of Rock Grove Church, where her spirit of fellowship and love for her church family shone through in everything she did. She found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life: traveling to new places, dancing whenever the music moved her, and losing herself in the sounds of soul, jazz and old school R&B. She loved spending time outdoors, whether on a long bike ride or a peaceful walk in nature, always finding beauty in the world around her.

Above all, Harriette was known for her heart. She was outgoing, friendly, and endlessly warm - the kind of person who made everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. Her happiness and joy were contagious, and her compassion for others never wavered. To know Harriette was to be wrapped in her love.

Harriette shared her life with her beloved husband, James W. Moore, whom she had known since their teenage years — a love that spanned a lifetime. Together, they raised their son, J'aime Moore, with whom she shared an especially close and loving bond, and who found a loving partner in his wife, Raquel Velez-Moore.

Harriette is also survived by her brother, Terry W. Gilmore, his son, Brian Kaesi Gilmore, Kaesi's wife, Staria, and their children, Shane and Ian; her sister, Lottie M. Gilmore, her daughter, Crystal Alexis Gilmore-Hope, and Crystal's daughter, Norah J. Benjamin; her sister, Nancy K. Gilmore-Lee, along with her sons, Sean A. Lee, his wife Kelly, and their children, and Jeremy A. Lee; and her beloved special cousin, Jonathan Walls.

On her husband’s side, she is survived by James’s siblings: his sister, Robin Walker, and her children, Kenyatta Walker-Tisdale and Kwanzza Walker; his sister, Chnetha B Wilson, and her son, Akeem Wilson; and his sister-in-law, Elaine Moore (wife of James’s late brother, Johnny Benjamin Moore), and their daughter, Tynisa Black-Hood—as well as the memory of James's late brother, Roger Lee Moore. She also leaves behind a loving extended family and countless friends whose lives she touched.

Harriette's legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
