Mrs. Helen R. Barber passed away peacefully at Piedmont Medical Center at the age of 80. She was born on January 11th, 1945, in York County to the late Benjamin Allen and Lula Reid Allen. She attended York County Public Schools and further her education at Clinton College and York Technical College. She retired from Boy Scouts of America after 26 years of service. She was an active member of Catawba Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as a Deaconess, Member of the Steward Board, Ministry of Kindness, President /Vice of Usher Board.
She loved and cherished her family and friends. Her past lifetime interest was attending Church, and Church Events, Bowling, Playing the Piano, Fishing, Cooking, Visiting with Family/Friends, and Helping others, Playing Games on her computer, Watching Family Feud, and Word Search Puzzles.
She met and married the love of her life James Jr. Barber to their union 4 children were born. She was preceded in death by her son James Jerald Barber and 5 siblings Johnny Mae Ealy, Catherine McMullen, Henrietta Hall, Willie Allen, Crocket Allen.
She leaves her loving and cherished memories with her husband of 61 years James Jr. Barber and her 3 children. Cynthia Gaston (Reginald), Zaneta Barber, and Kelcey Barber all of Rock Hill South Carolina. Grandchildren Jarvis P. Underwood of Melbourne Florida, Jerald M. Barber of Chester SC, Ariel Massey, Zarbriel Massey, Josiana Chism all of Rock Hill SC. Great Grand Arianna M. Barber, Sister in Laws Brenda Faye White, Ellen Daniels both of Charlotte NC. Bonus Sister Salena Allen and Mary Hall. Along with a host of Loving Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
