Jacquelyn Luginia Douglas

Jacquelyn Luginia Douglas, affectionately known as "Jackie," passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on August 23, 1951, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Jackie was the beloved daughter of Dorothy D. Hunter and stepdaughter of the late James Victor Hunter.

Jackie was a proud graduate of Emmett Scott High School, Class of 1969. She went on to attend Winthrop University, where she earned her degree in Social Work. Her professional life was marked by an unwavering dedication to serving others as a compassionate and committed social worker. She worked for over 40 years at Pruitt HealthCare, formerly Meadow Haven, in Rock Hill, SC, where she touched countless lives with her care and commitment.

A woman deeply rooted in faith; Jackie was a devoted and active member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church. Her joyful spirit and generous heart found expression in many areas of ministry, including the musical choir, food pantry committee, Vocational Bible School, children’s church committee, and as a leader of the Junior Missionary. She served with both purpose and love, always focused on uplifting others and nurturing the next generation in faith.

Jackie was a charter member of the Rock Hill Ecumenical Chorale, where she shared her love for music and community through song. Her commitment to service extended beyond her church, as she also served on the Board of Directors for the Flint Hill Baptist Church Adult Daycare, helping guide a mission that supported elders with dignity and care.

She was a proud and active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Delta Xi Zeta Chapter in Rock Hill, SC. Within the sorority, she held numerous leadership roles and mentored many, always exemplifying the ideals of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. Jackie was also a devoted member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Rose of Sharon Chapter #30, where she served faithfully and lovingly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Juanita Douglass-Robinson and Robert L. Douglass; her stepfather, James Victor Hunter; and several aunts and uncles.

Jackie is survived by her loving mother, Dorothy Hunter; her uncle, Reverend Charles Robinson (Gertrude); her devoted cousin, Annie Orr (Carlos); and her beloved goddaughter, Monique Sims. She will also be dearly missed by her cherished friends: Deborah Harris, Helen Sims, Bishop Marion and Gwendolyn Wilson, Wendy (Chris) Carter, Joe Robinson, and her devoted caregiver, Yvonne Johnson. A host of cousins, extended family, sorority sisters, and friends will forever hold Jackie close in their hearts.

Jacquelyn Douglas lived a life of purpose, faith, and deep compassion. Her legacy is one of love, leadership, music, and tireless service to others. The countless lives she touched will carry her memory forward with gratitude and reverence.
