THE JOURNEY OF ENTRANCE

Jacquelyn E. Finley Thomas blessed the world on November 1, 1944, in York County, Rock Hill, SC. She was born to the late Willie Mae

"Jackie" Finley.

THE JOURNEY OF EDUCATION

Jackie was educated in the York County Public School System. After graduating from Emmett Scott High School in 1962, she attended Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC where she received her BA in business education.

THE JOURNEY OF LIFE

Jacquelyn worked tirelessly as an educator for DC public schools for over 25 plus years. Jackie was also deputy chief in the Office of Personnel Management for the Peace Corps. Early on, she refined her artistic talents while working in her parent's flower shop (Chris Florist) in Washington, DC. She was formerly married to the late Francis E. Thomas and to this union, two children were born, Maxzeller C. and Averi Kipp.

THE JOURNEY OF SER VANTHOOD

Jacquelyn was baptized at an early age at St. Mary's Catholic Church. After moving back home to Rock Hill, SC after retirement, she attended New Mt. Olivet AME Zion Church and served others with love and a cheerful spirit.

THE JOURNEY OF DEPARTING

Jacquelyn E. Finley Thomas made her departure on December 10, 2024, when God ordered her steps to be with him in glory. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Mazeller Christopher Thomas Si, her former spouses Frances E. Thomas and Charles D. Roseboro, and her brother Charles Ferguson.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Averi Kipp Bright (Benjamin), longtime companion Leonard Barber of the home, two grandchildren, Maxzeller C. Thomas Jr. (Daja) and Brittany Thomas, and special daughter Tashim Simmons (Deon) of MD.

She was blessed with four bonus grandchildren: Dashaun, Dominique, Dymond (Cicel) and Dyson; two great granddaughters: Rayna Mae and Olivia Christine. She will be greatly missed by her close cousins, Cyphese Redfern Plair of Tega Cay, SC, Bettye Finley, Shirley Dye, and Gwen Finley all of Rock Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that she loved dearly.
