Janie Mae "Dank" Agurs

Ms. Janie Mae "Dank" Agurs, 93, born July 5, 1930 of 1088 Carolina Avenue Extension Rock Hill, South Carolina entered eternal rest on September 21, 2023 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Len Agurs and Johnnie Mae Hughes Agurs.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Agurs (Dickie) (Azalea) and Lawerence Agurs, one grandson Tavares Agurs, two sisters Frances A. Bolder and Laved Boyd, and three brothers A. C. Mitchell, Richard Agurs and Jerry Agurs.

She was an avid bike rider and custodian of several locations and employed at Winthrop College. She was a long-time member of Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church. She belonged to the AP and B Society.

Janie leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Gloria A. Finch and a son Ronald Agurs (Shirley) of Rock Hill, SC. Six grandchildren Kiersten Pope of Raleigh, NC, Jermaine Agurs (Sonya) of Bradenton, Florida, Roderick Agurs (Crystal) of College Park, Georgia, Jaii Finch (Jametrice) of Rock Hill, SC, Lawrence Hinton of Charlotte, NC, and Kristy Mabry (Michael) of Rock Hill, SC. Ten great grandchildren Tineika, Tylisa, Antonio, Debrele, Ja'Niya, Michael, Jeramya, Adrian, Brittany and Layla. Two great great grandchildren. Two sisters, Carolyn Shirwan of Bronx, New York and Geraldine Agurs of Plainfield, New Jersey, one brother Robert Agurs (Laverne) of Middleton Delaware, loads of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

We will always love and miss her. May she rest in peace.
