Mr. Joe Hayden, a retired United States Veteran and a beloved resident of York County, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born in Lancaster SC on June 27, 1951, Joe was the son of Robert and Callie Blair Hayden. He pursued higher education at Friendship College, earning Bachelor's degrees in both Science and Business Administration. Throughout his career, Joe was a dedicated employee at Bleachery and General Tires, and he also worked as a professional truck driver.
Joe was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished time with his family. He had a passion for fishing and was an avid gun collector. He especially enjoyed taking his grandkids fishing and imparting his knowledge of gun safety. Joe will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Callie Blair Hayden, and his siblings, Robert Hayden, Johnny Hayden, Mark Hayden, Willie Mae Hayden Sherman and Barbara Lynn Hayden Clyburn
He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah L. Hayden; his children, Felicia Street (Robert Street) and Angela Hawfield; and his grandchildren, Michelle Pittman, Dashawn Street, Kayla Street, Alyssa Street, John Street, Chad Street, Tracy Jordan, and Janice Pittman. Joe also leaves behind his sisters, Louella Hayden Sadder and Sarah Ann Hayden Thompson (Mickey), and his uncle James Barber.
