Mr. Joe L. “Hook” McCullough, the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John (Big Daddy) and Mary Lee (Big Mama) McCullough, was born on February 16th, 1936. Being obedient to the will of the master, he went quietly to sleep and entered eternal rest on November 13, 2025, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Ruth McCullough, four sisters, Elizabeth Patton, Lena Boyd, Joan Clara Gilmore, and Alberta McCullough, two brothers, James R. McCullough and Clyde McCullough, three brothers-in-law, Thomas Gilmore, Ronald McCullough and Dudley Patton.
He attended Finley High in Chester, SC. He was a member of Red Oak AME Zion Church where he was a faithful servant until his health declined. He was a class leader, member of the Trustee Board, Senior Choir where he served as choir secretary and ensemble choir. He served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Archive #149 and VFW Post 3746.
He retired from Manetta Mills, Lando, South Carolina.
He was united in holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Sadie McCullough. To this union, two children were born.
Mr. Joe L. McCullough leaves to cherish loving memories of his sons, Mr. Kenneth (Jackie) McCullough of Rock Hill, SC and Mr. Terry McCullough of Edgemoor, SC. He had one grandson, Jadon McCullough of Rock Hill, SC. One brother-in-law, William Henry Lee of Rock Hill, SC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
