John “J.T.” Brown, Jr.

Mr. John “J.T.” Brown, Jr., was born on April 24, 1952, in York County, South Carolina to the late John “J.T.” Brown, Sr. and Rosa Brown. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 23, 2024. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald Brown, Willie Neal, and Steve Brown; one sister, Margaret Wright; daughter-in-law, Darshawnda H. Brown; father-in-law, Robert Lee Gaines, mother-in-law, Annett Gaines; and the mother of his children, Doris Mayfield Brown.

John graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1970, where he sang in the chorus. He attended York Technical College and received a bachelor’s degree from Strayer University. He retired from the United States Army and Army National Guard after serving his country faithfully. He later retired from the Employment Security Commission and Carolina Panthers Security.

John was a former member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He later became a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was a member of Israel Lodge no. 140, where he served as Secretary. He was a member of the American Legion and AP&B Society #21.

John is survived by his wife, Lorena Gaines Brown; sons, Brian A. Brown (Sharon) and Ronald A. Brown; grandchildren, O’Brian D. Brown and Sha’Bria D. Brown; stepson, Allen Gaines; brothers, Rev. Clark Brown (Debbie), Gary Brown (Michelle), Joe Brown, Jamie Brown (Michelle), Chris Brown (Ester); sisters, Delores Brown Moore, Doris Brown Givens (Sam), Keyonna Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
