John Allen Dixon, Sr.

May 9, 1948 — November 11, 2025

Beloved husband of the late Margie Dixon, and son of the late James and Daisy Lee Dixon. John was born in York County on May 9, 1948. He departed this earthly life on November 11, 2025 at Piedmont Medical Center after an illness.

John attended Emmett Scott High School in 1966. He went on to Friendship College and graduated in 1968.

John has been retired for several years from General Tire and York County School District. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

John loved spending quality time with his family, fishing, and watching westerns.

John enjoyed fellowshipping at Mount Hebron Baptist Church. He loved to sing to bring joy. He was on the Men’s Choir, Inspirational Choir and Hymns Choir.

John was a former Mason, former Shriner and a former Potentate. He was an active Elks Lodge Member.

He leaves to mourn in his passing his son, John Dixon, Jr; daughter, Tonya (Coyde) Crockett; sister, Doris Minton; three brothers, Donnie, Lavon and Charles Dixon all of Rock Hill, SC; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything in this world; three brothers-in-law, Bobby Mack of New Jersey, Lonnie Mack and Charles Hunter both of Spartanburg, SC; three sisters-in-law, Deloris Ann Mack, Maydella Hunter both of Spartanburg, SC and Betty Jean Dixon of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be forever remembered
