John Charles “Chicken” Geter

John Charles Peter (Chicken) departed this life on October 15, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center. John was born to Johnny B. Cunningham and Helen Peter Smith on March 26, 1944 in Rock Hill, SC, both who preceded him in death. John served 2 tours of duty in the Vietnam War and was honored as a recipient of the Bronze Medal. John was employed at Drums Tires as a large haul truck Tire Mechanic before retiring and enjoying the rest of his days. John was a long-time faithful member of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church of Rock Hill, SC. John was well known and liked by many because of his kind heart. You would see him on any given day dressed sharply with his cowboy hats and boots and was lovingly called (Mr. Sexy Man).

John is survived by his estranged wife Vivian Peter, 2 sons, Anthony (Yvonne) Gomez, Derrick Gomez, and 1 daughter LaToya (Bryant) McCrorey. Grandchildren, Demetria Ervin, Anthony Gomez, Ti'Yona Gomez, Dierra Gomez, Li'Derrick Gomez, Rodney Gomez, Keanna Wright, Ajiya Wallace and Ajaye Wallace. Greatgrandchildren, Keagan Gomez, Lyla Gomez, and Aaliyah Mann. Brothers, Willie James Adams, and Robert Lee Adams. Sisters, Rev. Eunice (Aaron) Wade, Carol (James) Mobley and Rosalind Cunningham. Bonus children, Harold Fee, Shameka (Charlees) Barber and Corteshia Bailey-Norman. Bonus grandchilren, Erika Gill, Shacoria Barber, Charles Barber and August Norman and a host of beloved nieces, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
