John William Mackey, Jr.

Mr. John William Mackey, Jr. was born January 26, 1956 in Hollis Queens, New York to the late John William Mackey and the late Queen Ester Patton Mackey. He departed this life on Monday, August 21, 2023.

John was educated in the schools of the New York school system and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. He attended Queensborough College and York Technical College. He was a faithful employee of the Stanley Black and Decker Distribution Center, Fort Mill South Carolina for 21 years. He was a sous chef and frequently cooked for friends and family. He was a member of Tabernacle AME Zion Church and been a faithful Trustee in past years. He was a member of the Hymn Choir.

John was loving, generous, and always polite. He was a proud and doting father.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janette Mackey; he leaves two children to celebrate his memory, Nina Simone Mackey of Rock Hill, SC and Erin Janelle Gray of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Margaret Hayes of High Point, NC, Maxine Brown of Jamaica, NY and Marie Mackey of Hollis, NY; father-in-law, Rev. Emmett Browning, Sr. of Rock Hill, SC; two aunts, Clara Bell Lee of Rock Hill, SC and Dorothy Moore of Bronx, NY; one brother-in-law, Emmett Browning, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC; three sisters-in-law, Elder Sharon Browning, Sandra McNeil (Thomas) both of Rock Hill, SC and Tamula Helmuth (Jordan) of Winter Garden, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We are humbly thankful for your messages of sympathy, for your prayers and words of comfort, for your smiles that cheered and gave us courage, for your presence which strengthened us, for the flowers that added a heavenly beauty, for your gifts of nourishment and for each and every way you showed that you cared.
