John Henry Phillips

John Henry Phillips was born May 24, 1945 and quietly passed on June 24, 2024. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Marian Phillips of Brooklyn, NY and parents John Phillips and Henrietta Rawlinson Phillips of Rock Hill, SC and brother Richard Phillips(Gloria) of Chesapeake, VA.  Sons Montel Phillips(Nadine) of Jesup, GA, Michael Hughes and daughter, Vanessa Hughes. Grandchildren, Arianna Phillips and Ja’Shari Allen.

He also has dear family who remain to cherish his memory and fulfill his legacy: Nephews, Ambe Phillips(Arelthia) of Mesquite, TX and Colonel Atiim
Phillips(Joyce) of Stafford, VA. Great-nephews, Kweli Phillips, Ambe Phillips II and Great-niece, Amira Phillips. A host of cousins, friends, colleagues and church family will fondly remember John for the impact he made on their lives.

John was a Navy veteran and upon completion of his service he successfully transitioned to a full-time hair stylist and provided exemplary service at Pure Beauty Salon for over 15 years.

He was a member of the VFW of Rock Hill, SC and dedicated member of his home church, St. Matthew AME Zion. He was known to gladly be of service to all who needed help. John truly was the epitome of godly service and benevolence.
