Obituary

Mrs. Johnnie J. Franklin was born January 25, 1936, in York County SC to the late Lucille and Isaiah Jamison.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edmond Franklin,

Johnnie Mae Franklin was a loving, devoted, and compassionate woman whose life was marked by faith, service, and genuine kindness toward others. She was known for her warm spirit, joyful laughter, and her remarkable ability to make everyone she encountered feel welcomed and valued.

Johnnie Mae was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and served on the Hymn Choir. Her love for worship and music reflected her deep faith and commitment to the Lord and her church family.

She was a proud graduate of Emmett Scott High School and dedicated more than 30 years of her professional life to White Oak Manor, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Trainer. Nursing was not just her career—it was her calling. She cared for countless residents with compassion, dignity, and a gentle hand.

Johnnie Mae enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, shopping, and gardening in her flower bed. One of her greatest joys was caring for her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was also well known for her love of wearing hats, which reflected her vibrant personality and sense of style.

She leaves to cherish her memory of two children, Beverly Franklin and Edmond Franklin (Marsha); grandchildren, Raven Barber and Keith Franklin; one great-grandchild, Emily Rose Barber, all Rock Hill, South Carolina; her sister, Maggie Byers of Rock Hill, South Carolina; nieces, Sharon Barber, Tina Brice, Elaine Hollis, Lucille White (Albert), Gwendolyn Lindler (Roosevelt), Kamille Lindler; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Johnnie Mae Franklin leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
