Johnny Benjamin Moore, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, born on April 3, 1951, to Lillie and Willie Moore in Rock Hill, South Carolina, he passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and craftsmanship. Johnny lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his work.
A proud graduate of Rock Hill High School, Johnny went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. After completing his military service, he pursued his passion for working with his hands and spent his life as a skilled carpenter. Whether building with wood or tending to his yard, Johnny found joy in creating and caring for the world around him. His love for the outdoors was evident in the time he spent working outside, where he felt most at peace.
Johnny's greatest pride, however, was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lauretta Moore, and their loving daughter, Tynisa Black along with her fiancé Justin Hood. Johnny cherished his two grandchildren, Lawrence Nearing and Ryland Hood, who brought him immense joy and pride. He also shared a special bond with his goddaughters, Altavia Youngblood and Jurea Murray.
He is also survived by his siblings James Moore, Robin Moore- Walker, and Chnetha Wilson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Moore.
Johnny's legacy continues through his host of nieces and nephews.
Those who knew Johnny will remember his steady presence, his hardworking spirit, and the kindness he offered freely to others. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Johnny's life will be held to honor the man who gave so much and asked for little in return. May he rest in peace.
