Juanita Thrower Washington Oates

Juanita Thrower Washington Oates humbly bowed to God’s will and peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. Born October 29, 1981, in Monroe, NC.

She attended Lancaster High School class of ’97. She joined North Corner AME Zion at an early age. Later in life she moved to Winston Salem NC where she married her husband of 23 years. She worked as a custodian for the Lancaster School district. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, watching scary movies, she loved family time, and she was always the life of the party. May she rest in eternal peace.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Thrower, and stepfather Toy R. Shannon.

Her survivors include her husband, Lennie Oates of the home; two sons, Jamison Washington (Karla) of Greenwood SC, Shammond Moore of the home; a very special nephew/son, Jaylen Catoe of Lancaster, SC; her mother, Alice T. Shannon (Steine) of Rock Hill, SC; one brother, Larry McCain (Ann) of Lancaster, SC; two sisters, Alice Maranda Grier and Patricia McGee of Lancaster, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, other relatives, and friends.
