Juqeise Parecio “Jock” Hoyles

Mr. Juqeise Parecio Hoyles, known to many as “Jock” and lovingly called “Slim” by his family, passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 45. Born December 11, 1979, to Dale W. Hoyles and Phyllis Roddey Hoyles.

Jock grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and attended the public schools of York County, including Rock Hill High School. He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Matthew AME Zion Church, where he sang in the Children’s Choir and served on the Junior Usher Board.

Jock worked for PFG Food Distribution Center and McDonald’s, always showing up with a smile. He was a proud fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Duke basketball, and was rarely seen without his favorite hat and easygoing grin.

He leaves behind his daughters, Ivyonna Hoyles and Taraji Steele, both of Rock Hill, SC; his parents, Dale W. Hoyles and Phyllis R. Hoyles of Rock Hill, SC; his brother, D. Maurice Hoyles (Allison) of Simpsonville, SC; nieces, Amariah and Denise Hoyles both of Simpsonville, SC; aunts, Gloria J. Carter, Naomi H. Thomas, Gladys Daniel (Jerome), Levonne McCullough (Charles), Freddie Pickett (Eddie), Zorada Hoyles, Connie Minton, Gloria Gwynnett Brown (Donald), and Gail Cook (Marion); uncles, Rev. Ira Roddey (Mary Ann), Donald Roddey (Lillie Bell), and William D. Hoyles (Diane); a special friend, Lemire Watts; friends since youth, Marcus Tisdale, Sekari Feely, Fonte Chisholm and Travis Dickerson; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Jock will be remembered for his quiet strength, his joyful spirit, and the love he gave so freely.
