Kathleen Ellison Holmes

Kathleen Ellison Holmes (81) of Rock Hill, SC passed peacefully at PruittHealth Nursing Home August 6, 2024. She was predeceased by her son, Cedric L. Holmes, granddaughter, Shemeka Holmes, parents, Rev. Dr. Leroy & Mattie Ellison and siblings, Cora Ellison Barber, Robert Ellison and Mary Ellison.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her children: Andre Holmes, Washington, DC, Donald Holmes, Winnsboro, SC, Ronald Holmes, Baltimore, MD and Anita Holmes Wilson, Rock Hill, SC; grand/great-grandchildren; her siblings: Roy Ann Gaither, Rev. Willie Ellison (Star), Juanita Mayer (Eugene), MacArthur Ellison, LaChun Murdock (Rev. Dr. Sidney) and Rev. Leroy Ellison, Jr.; brother-in-law, Warren Barber and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Holmes graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1961. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she studied nursing. In 1968 she returned to Rock Hill with her family.

After the passing of her son/caretaker, Cedric, Mrs. Holmes moved into PruittHealth Nursing Home, where she received 24-hour care, and the attention and love that was given throughout the remainder of her life. Thank you PruittHealth.

Mrs. Holmes was a faithful member of St Matthew A.M.E. Zion Church. Her faith in God sustained her throughout the many years of her illness. Her favorite Book in the Bible was Psalms. “The Lord [was her Shepard].” Rest in peace Kathleen. We love you.
