Larry Franklin Hart, the son of the late Hezekiah and Viola C. Hart, was born on May 14, 1950. He entered eternal rest with God on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Larry was introduced to Christianity at an early age. He was baptized and attended at St. Matthew AME Zion Church during his youth. He also frequently attended Foundation AME Zion Church, his paternal grandparent’s church with his parents. Prior to his transition, he was an active member and officer at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. One of his most proud moments occurred when he became a trustee, a position that he cherished. His love for God and his church was undeniable.

Larry attended elementary and high school in Rock Hill, SC and a 1970 graduate of Emmett Scott High School. He loved high school, because it provided him an opportunity to do what he loved best, play sports. Academics were important, but playing sports, as you can guess became a high priority. Not surprisingly, he excelled as an athlete. It didn’t matter which sport he played. Any activity that involved kicking, tossing, throwing, jumping, etc., he wanted to play. This level of success provided him with a personal sense of achievement and accomplishment. He shared his knowledge, talent and skills with his sons, grandson, nephews, and other youth. He enjoyed watching the play and excel. He was a die-hard fan of the Baltimore Ravens, but also supported other teams. He just loved the game.

The love of athletics extended beyond high school. Larry began playing baseball with the local community team, The Flint Hill Falcons. He often played against his cousins who played for the Harmony Aces, coached by Larry and the cousin’s uncle. On a few occasions he played with his cousins on their team, which was truly a family affair.

Larry’s work career began with employment at Mobay Chemicals, where his older brothers also worked. His career ended with his retirement from Rock Hill School District Three.

Larry will be remembered for his unconditional love, and commitment to his family. He leaves behind a legacy that his dedication heirs and family can build upon. We thank God for allowing him to be an intricate part of our life. We will miss him greatly, but he will always be present in our heart.

Larry was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Tonya Mitchell; sisters, Pearl H. Perkins and Bettye H. Reid; brothers, Cliff Hart, William Hart, Robert Hart and David Hart.

Larry leaves to cherish fond memories: His loving & loyal wife, Margaret L. Hart; sons, Dominic Hart (Shenita), Dadrian Robinson (Esha); a bonus son, Chris Lowery (Angie); daughter, Timico Michelle Hart; a bonus daughter, Kim Lowery; sisters, Dianne Hart-McCray (Herbert), Jeronice Thompson, Berma Walker and Janice Perkins, niece raised in the home; brother, James Hart (Maggie); Aunts, Alice Mae Barber and Minnie Lee Agurs; brother-in-law, Willie Odom (Karen) 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
