Leonard “Nard” Gayten

Mr. Leonard “Nard” Gayten was born at Fort Jackson Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina to parents, Wade W. J. and Mamie Brown Gayten on March 31, 1954. He was the youngest of eight children born to this union.

Leonard attended public schools in Rock Hill, SC. He had a quiet demeanor and was very good at using his hands for building (construction worker).

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Eddie, James and Mitchell, three sisters, Ruby, Jill and Paulon.

Leonard leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Margaret Gayten of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, Quanisha Evans of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Rosa L. Cohen of Aurora, CO; caregiver (niece), Sharon Brown of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews.
