Lester Odell Jones

Lester Odell Jones was born the fourth child to the late Lester Jones and the late Rosa Mae Anderson Jones in York County, South Carolina on September 4, 1945.

"Odell" was educated in the schools of York County, South Carolina. He was a proud 1963 graduate of Emmett Scott High School. He attended Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC.

"Odell" was a military veteran, having served in the United States Army. During his time in the military, "Odell" was stationed Fort Carson, El Paso County, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. "Odell" was a lifelong member of Mount Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church.

He always believed in God and in the power of prayer. He quietly entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center. Those left to cherish his memories; his son, Aubrey O'Neil Simril; his daughter, Delores Bowers; his sisters; Frances J. Glenn, Janice M. Jones, Lisa J. (Dennis) Barnett of Rock Hill, SC; his brothers; Horace Anderson Jones, George Douglas Jones, Thomas L. Jones all of Rock Hill, SC, and Louie Clayton (Jo) Jones of Columbia, SC; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church, 2000 Neelys Creek Road, Rock Hill. The Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Rock Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, 1460 Margaret Street, Rock Hill. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery. Robinson Funeral Home is serving the Jones family.
