Lewis A. Barber, affectionately known as Luke, was born on September 5, 1952, to Julia (White) King and Tommie Barber in Charlotte, North Carolina. On November 22, 2024, Luke departed this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Luke's work ethic began early when he started driving a school bus for Emmett Scott High School while still a student himself. After graduating in 1970, he embarked on a career at RSM Company, where he worked diligently until his well-earned retirement.

A passionate thrifter, Luke loved attending yard sales across the Carolinas, always on the hunt for hidden treasures. He relished time spent with family and friends, often the source of laughter with his quick wit and humor. One of his favorite running jokes was that his birthday was actually January 1st, and he wasn't a Barber but a Conrad—a testament to his knack for bringing smiles to those around him.

Luke was preceded in death by his loving parents, Julia King and Tommie Barber; grandparents, John and Irene White; his older brother, Hazel White; and his cousin, Cecilia Jones. He is survived by his devoted brothers Tommy Barber of Atlanta, GA, Michael Barber and Zane King of Detroit, MI; and his beloved Aunt, Bernice Williams of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Luke's warmth, humor, and generosity touched the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the laughter and love he inspired.
