Ms. Ella Boyd Jaggers, age 89, peacefully answered the master's call and departed this earthly life on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Magnolia Manor. She was born in Fairfield County on March 20, 1935, and was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Sallie Scruggs Boyd, and her husband, Elijah Jaggers, Sr.
She was educated in the schools of Baltimore, MD, and was employed by Winthrop University for over 20 years. She attended St. Matthew A.M.E. Zion Church and was a dedicated member of the Angelic and Mass Choirs. Ms. Ella would gladly pick up and take home other choir members that didn't have transportation. It was a part of her Christian commitment, and she really enjoyed the fellowship with others. She was a devoted member of the Daughters of the Varick and served faithfully on the kitchen committee. She was extremely passionate about her duties and responsibilities in the church and served God generously.
Ms. Ella truly enjoyed bowling, basketball, and cooking for her family and friends. Her three favorite teams included the Atlanta Braves, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Chicago Bulls. She was extremely happy and excited when she was able to attend on the Atlanta Braves games.
Those left to cherish her fond memories includes two sons, Benjamin Jaggers (Angela) and Elijah Jaggers (Beverly); six grandchildren--Mister Shemekia Hope-Robinson (Gerald), Lawanda Sheree Jaggers-Herndon (Burnell), Karen Jaggers, Benjamin Jaggers (Marcia), Ashley Jaggers and Breon Jaggers; nine great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Ruth J. Scott, and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
Ms. Ella really loved her children and grandchildren and expressed it in her home and community. She possessed the greatest gift which was love as evidenced in I Corinthians 13. To know Ms. Ella was to love her. Her life was a blessing to all she touched. She will be missed but never forgotten by those who loved her the most. Her love, joy, smile, laughter, and compassion will forever be etched in our hearts and will serve as a legacy for her family and friends today and for days to come. "To God be the glory for the things he has done!"
