Malinda Faye Hefney Gilmore was born September 27, 1949, to the late Mr. Theodore, Sr. & Mrs. Doris C. Hefney in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Faye was educated through the local schools and was a 1967 graduate of Emmett Scott High School. Faye went on to earn her college degree from Friendship College. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and became a faithful member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Faye, just like her Mother, started her career with the Rock Hill Telephone Company (Comporium) where she worked until her retirement in 2010, providing over 30 years of service. Faye married the love of her life, Larry E. Gilmore, in 1975.
In her 74 years of life, Faye enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She had a love of fashion, which is the reason that Carolina Place Mall & South Park Mall were her weekend places to be. She had a love of music and dancing, and could be found many days playing her Maxwell cassette tape on the way to her favorite places.
Faye answered God’s call to take her eternal rest at home, on Monday, October 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brothers, Theodore “Ted” C. Hefney, Jr. and John Ivey Witherspoon. She leaves to cherish her memory, her Husband, Larry E. Gilmore, Step-Daughters, Stephanie Smith Conklin, Shedelia Blair (Willie), Sharon Gilmore, Cee Cee Mitchell and Natashia Douglas (Derrick), 7 Grandchildren, De’Anna Beeks, Bianca Gilmore, Stephen Smith, Biasia Roberts, Quan Blair, Tyrice Blair, and NiDerrica Massey and 3 Great-grandchildren, DaCori Beeks, Makaila Gilmore, and Tevarus Halsey.
