Margie Deloris Roddey Holman, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, matriarch, passed away peacefully at home Saturday October 25, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, memories, wisdom that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Born on June 18, 1940 in Catawba, SC, the daughter of the late Theodore and Meta Roddey. She has a strong sense of family values and a deep appreciation of family traditions. She loved her family and loved Sunday dinners surrounded by those she loved. She had deep affection for cooking, baking, canning, sewing, gardening, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with her grand-children.
Margie was united in holy matrimony on Thanksgiving Day November 23, 1961 to her beloved husband Raymond Holman. It was from their wonderful union four children were born. Catrina, Iris, Raymond, and Nicole. They lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church until they moved to Catawba South Carolina. Once returning to her home town Margie and Raymond joined Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was proud Chairman of the Deaconess Board, member of the Hymn Choir, she served as a Primary Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Kitchen Ministry, and tutored many of the youth something she loved doing.
Throughout her life Margie embraced every opportunity to make a positive impact to all those she touched. She was member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Lit-Phy Civic and Social Club, Mary Kay Consultant and President of C.T. Roddey Family.
Margie attended Emmett Scott School, Johnson C. Smith University where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree. She received her Master’s of Education Degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her love for education lead her to teach school for over 30 years in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. Her longest tenure was Garinger High School from where she retired in 1992.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Meta Roddey, siblings, Theodore Roddey, Willie Love Roddey, Elmer Roddey, Calla Roddey Wright, Freedonia, Davis, Mildred Roddey Ruffin, James Roddey, Magnolia Roddey, Eldora Roddey, Precious Osbey Roddey, Proctor Roddey and Meta Louise Smith.

Margie leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband of 63 years, Raymond Holman, four children, Catrina (Carilius), Charlotte, N.C., Raymond, Catawba, SC, Iris, Catawba, S.C., Nicole (Daniel), Catawba, S.C. seven grand-children, Theodore, Lekisha (Reginald), Sarah, Tiffany, Brandon (Crystal), Laila, Landon. Nine great-grand children Anaiya, Theodore Jr, Reginald III, Isaiah, Dorian, Zuri, Amir, Ivy, Xylah, soon to be Cassian. Also survived is one sister-in-law Cynthia Roddey, and host of nieces, nephews, special friends Eunice Pharr and Delores McMillan.
