Mary Louise “Gail” Cherry

Ms. Mary Louise “Gail” Cherry, 77, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on October 10, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family. She was born on November 30, 1945, to the late Annie Eliza Dewese Cherry and Sammy Elmo Cherry Sr. She was the granddaughter of the late Lucy Pickett Dewese and Clarence Dewese Sr.; Susie Caldwell Cherry and Ruffus Cherry. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her sister Janie Bell Dewese Irby.

Gail Cherry was educated at Emmett Scott High School. She joined the Nazareth Baptist Church at a very early age where she served on the Usher Board. Gail retired from the Springs Mills Plant and The White Plant after 33 years and the Rock Hill School District as a custodian after 6 years.

She leaves her precious memories to her daughter, Teresa Cherry of Rock Hill and her son, Artavis “Tater” White of Rock Hill; two bonus daughters, Lorna Lewis and Tia Jackson of Rock Hill, SC; her granddaughter, Tera’Neshia (Octavius) Hough of Lancaster, SC; two bonus granddaughters, Tierra Lewis and Tekyah Roddey both of Rock Hill, SC; and her bonus great-grand, Sunni and a fur great-grand, Diesel. Gail Cherry also leaves her precious memories with her loving sister, Alberta Chisolm of Rock Hill, SC, and brother, Sammie “Honkey” Cherry of Rock Hill, SC. Dewey Dewese, whom she helped raise, and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and caring friends and neighbors.

Ms. Mary “Gail” Cherry enjoyed spending time at home watching her favorite shows. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at functions laughing and enjoying each other’s
company. In addition, Gail had an outspoken character and a smile that would light up a room. She will be missed dearly by all.

The family of Ms. Mary Cherry conveys their deepest gratitude and appreciation for all acts of love and sympathy that have been extended to them during their time of bereavement. May God richly bless each and every one of you.
