Mary W. Moffatt

Mary Wherry Moffatt was born in York County on April 5th, 1935, to Sam Wherry and Rebecca Alexander Wherry. She was one of eleven children: five girls and six boys.

Mary was employed at the Holiday Inn on Anderson Road in Rock Hill, SC as the housekeeping supervisor for many years. She later went to work for Dobbs International Services at Charlotte Douglas airport in Charlotte, NC where she later retired. Mary was a member of Chestnut Grove A.M.E Zion Church in Chester, SC where she served as a member of the deaconess board. She was a life member of the woman’s home and overseen the missionary society of African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. She was also a member of the AP&B society #26 of Rock Hill, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Moffatt, daughter Myra Wherry and great-granddaughter Destiny Brooks.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories, Three grandchildren, Priscilla Brooks (Reginald Sr.), Wanto Wherry, and Harriet Wherry; seven great-grandkids, Jasmine Brooks, Reginald Brooks Jr (Kaila), William Brooks, Iesha Faulkner, Wanto Wherry Jr., Mark McClurkin Jr, Ivory Jackson, and four great great-grandchildren, Kayden, Giselle, Kylin and Josiah; two brothers, Richard Wherry (Elaine), William Wherry; Frances Wherry niece/caregiver, Reverend Leroy McCrea (caregiver), three stepdaughters, Deborah Moffatt, Yvonne Moffatt Ervin (Hyder), Katherine Moffatt Bolder (Jammie); eight step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
