Mary Jane McCrorey Williams was born on July 6, 1943, in Chester County to the late M.J. McCrorey and Mary Ruth Holly. She was raised by her paternal grandparents the late Cleve and Nancy McCrorey Key.
Mary attended the public schools of Chester County. Being reared in a Christian home, she joined Chestnut Grove A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age where she faithfully attended until her health declined. When her health declined, she still supported her church.
Mary was employed with Chuck’s laundry for many years. She retired from the Rock Hill School District in the Culinary Department (Lunch Lady). Mary was a life Matron of the Women’s Home Overseas Missionary Society, Parent Body Missionary Society, a former member of the Stewardess Board, former member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee.
One daughter preceded her in death, Joe Ann McCrorey and lieu of pets.
Mary was married to the late Harvey Williams, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with five children. She leaves behind to cherish her fondest memories her son Harvey Williams, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, 4 daughters, Wynella (Charlie) McMicken’s, Vera Denise (Marvin) Williams-Agurs, Dianne Hilton (Roger Howze) all of Rock Hill, SC, Minnie (Anthony) Neal of Chester, SC—3 grandchildren reared in the home, Dee Williams, Adrian Williams of Rock Hill, SC and Shaquetta Williams-Coleman (James) of Spartanburg, SC.14 grandchildren—Lakisha (Steve) Barber of Charlotte, NC, John (Melinda) Backstrom of Cherryville NC, Nancy Toliver of Rock Hill, SC, Ernest J. Dunovant of Chester, SC, Charlene McMicken’s and Christopher McMicken both of Rock Hill, SC, Tamara (Jimmy) Neal-Williams and April (Kevin) Neal-Roberts both of Chester, SC, Marvin D. Agurs of Rock Hill, SC, De’Shena (Garry) Miller of Hopkins, SC, Brenae Hilton and Alaysha Hilton both of Rock Hill, SC—Adopted Grandchildren, Jordan Sloan of Charlotte, NC and D’Everette Sloan of Seattle, Washington (Army), 25 great-grandchildren and her sister Mary M. Tomes of Gastonia, NC. 1 Sister-in-law, Hattie Stroman of Ft. Washington, Maryland. Survived by other relatives and friends.
