Rev. Dr. Ronnie B. McCrorey was born on March 21, 1955, in York County, Rock Hill, SC. He was born to the late Alfred McCrorey and the late Bessie McCrorey.
The Journey of Education
Dr. McCrorey was educated in the York County School System.
He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1973. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He received an honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States of America in February 1980. After returning from the Army, he graduated from York Tech with a degree in Engineering. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Livingston College. In May 2009, he received his master's degree from Hood Theological Seminary.
In July 2018, he received his Doctor of Ministry Theology from Covington Theological Seminary.
The Journey of Life
Dr. McCrorey worked at Continental Tire (formerly known as General Tire) in their lab as an ASQ Certified Quality Assurance Technician for over 30 years. He married his wife of 40 years,
Linda Ann Joseph McCrorey. They have 2 sons and 7 grandchildren. He was an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Rose of Sharon Lodge # 156. He had a deep love for singing. He had a beautiful voice. He sang for many programs, weddings, funerals, etc. He was a member of the Innovative Gospel Vision Quartet. He had a passion for cars of any type. He loved watching drag racing and collecting model cars.
The Journey of Servanthood
At an early age, Dr. McCrorey accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Pineville AME Zion Church. He remained at Pineville AME Zion until he was appointed to his first church. He became an ordained Deacon in 2006 and received his first appointment as a Pastor at Center Emmanuel AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, SC. In 2009, he was appointed to Smithville AME Zion in Cheraw, SC. In 2013, he was appointed to New Hope AME Zion Church, Union, SC. In 2017, he was appointed to El Bethel AME Zion Church, Fort Mill, SC where he was currently still serving. He loved being a Pastor and loved the people he pastored.
The Journey of Departing
Rev. Dr. Ronnie B. McCrorey made his departure on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, when God ordered his steps to be with him in glory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Bessie McCrorey, two brothers, James Otis McCrorey and Alfred McCrorey Jr., and one sister, Doris Ann McCrorey Beaty, father-in-law, Charles Zo Joseph, Sr. and one sister-in-law, Darlene Joseph McCollough.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Linda Ann Joseph McCrorey; two sons, Ronnell (Michelle) McCrorey and Justin (Alekeyia) McCrorey, sisters, Daisy McCrorey Ross, Patricia McCrorey Young-Washington, and Sarah McCrorey Hubbard, Karen (Michael) Wright; grandchildren, Joiyah McCrorey Carter, Keirsten McCrorey, Christian McCrorey, Raylyn McCrorey, Jace McCrorey, Krue McCrorey, and Cali McCrorey.
Six nieces, Jovada (John) Jordan, Jocelyn (Tonzel) Gordan, Octavia Beaty, Melita (LaMarion) Tillman, and Zavier Dingle, Erica (Ryan) Wright-Smith; three nephews, Reggie (Terry) Beaty, Barry (Eva) McCrorey, and Eric (Shay) Wright; Mother-in law, Carrie Bell Joseph, two sister-in-laws, Betty (Patrick) Jennings, Valeria Joseph, and two brother-in- laws, Eddie (Jackie) avis and Charles (Angela) Joseph, Ir; a host of nieces,
