Samuel Lee “Whit” Whitlock

Mr. Samuel Lee “Whit’” Whitlock was born on December 7, 1948, in Rock Hill, SC to the late Wardell and Maggie Whitlock Sr. He departed this life on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. He was preceded in death by his siblings: James Whitlock, Phillip Whitlock, Robert Whitlock, Isaiah Whitlock, Wardell Whitlock Jr., Mattie W. Smith, Emma W. Watkins, Diane Whitlock, and Judy W. Evans.

Sam attended Emmett Scott High School. He was employed by Rock Hill Printing & Finishing for 25 years and Sears & Roebuck for 30 plus years. He then later was employed at Kings Electronics, Saluda Trail Middle School and ended with PPM at New Indy in Catawba, SC. His favorite hobby was going fishing.

Sam leaves to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years, Margie Whitlock of Rock Hill, SC; his daughter, Vicki Whitlock Massey of Rock Hill, SC; two grandchildren, Nicole and Nicholas Massey of Rock Hill, SC; one great-grandchild, Zariah Woods of Rock Hill, SC; his mother-in-law, Lula Bell Worthy of Rock Hill, SC; two brothers, J.T. Whitlock (Carol) of Newark, NJ, Jesse Whitlock (Rachel) of Rock Hill, SC; five sisters, Ella Mae Young of Buffalo, NY, Eva Mae Whitlock, Rosa Mae McClure, Helen Whitlock and Esther Mae Williams all of Rock Hill, SC; five sisters-in-law, Lillie Rose, Rosie Worthy, Nannie Worthy, Joyce Worthy and Geraldine Worthy all of Rock Hill, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
