Shekayla Ceiara Benning

Shekayla Ceiara Benning was the daughter of Sterling Benning (Ayesha) and Stephanie Reed (Gerneal). She was born on October 4, 1988, at Conway Medical Center, Horry County.

Shekayla passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.

Shekayla attended York County Schools. She relocated to Rock Hill in 2020, where she was a caregiver for her grandmother until she passed away in June 2024. She often was a guest attendee at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Shekayla spent her free time doing DIY crafts and thrifting. She loved doing hair, nails, and lashes for her three daughters. She was very family-oriented and often had a way of making gatherings into a celebration of life.

Shekayla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gilbert Mayo Sr. (Nedra) and Colby Benning (Imor Gene); uncle, Scenca Benning; and son, Kaharie Rawlinson.

Shekayla leaves behind parents, Sterling Benning (Ayesha) of Charleston, SC, and Stephanie Reed (Gerneal) of Rock Hill, SC; siblings, Page Smith (Travis) of Rock Hill, SC, Sterling Benning of Conway, SC, Jayden Benning of Conway, SC, Savanna Benning of Charleston, SC, and Gerneal White of Mansfield, TX; children, Chasity, Trinity, Josiah, Jeramiah Rawlinson, and Armoni Jackson of Rock Hill, SC; nieces and nephews, Alexus McWilliams, Malcolm Cooper Jr., Armonia White all of Mansfield, TX, Madison Cooper, Mason Smith and Maddox Smith all of Rock Hill, SC; aunts and uncles, Cokey Scott (Jonathan) of Charleston, SC, Harry Benning of Conway, SC, Ila "Kia" Bellamy of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sharon Grisset (Joe) of Conway, SC, Gilbert A.
