Theotis Watkins, 75, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. He was born in Jackson, Georgia, to Oscar and Lucy Watkins. Theotis graduated from Albany State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. It was there that he met the love of his life, Fredia Lucas, who became his wife of 50 years. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Ashley.
Theotis was known for his kindness, quick wit, humor, and calm demeanor. He cherished spending quality time with his daughter—engaging in long conversations, sharing laughter, and watching sports, especially basketball. He had a passion for capturing and preserving family memories through photography and video, a love of classic cars, and he never missed an opportunity to mentor others on the stock market. He was also a longtime, faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout his 40-year career, including 29 years with Lance, Inc., he distinguished himself as an accomplished production manager.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Fredia; daughter, Ashley; brothers, Fred (Harriette) and Alfred (Rita); sister, Janice Watkins; goddaughter, Amber Bradshaw; aunts, Fannie Barron, Lurlyne Williams, and Calgene Clark; nephews, Derek, Dion, Christopher, and Jonathan Watkins, along with a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
