Veola Harris Taybron

Veola Harris-Taybron, beloved daughter of the late Joe Harris and Lular Harris, was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on December 4, 1939. She entered eternal rest on October 31, 2023, at the age of 83.

She embarked on her educational journey at the Emmett Scott School in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she received her formal education.

In 1966, she married the love of her life, Rannie E Taybron (predeceased) and together they built a life filled with love, joy, and shared experiences.

Veola dedicated her time and talents to serving others through her involvement in various church ministries, where her radiant worship and commitment to the Lord was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Her dedication to her work was evident in her long and successful career at Winthrop College, where she eventually retired, leaving a lasting impact on the institution and those she worked with. Veola was a woman of strength and compassion, touching the lives of those around her with her kind and gentle spirit.

Throughout her life, Veola was a source of inspiration and support for her loved ones. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Her memory will be kept alive by: brother George Harris; sister-in-law Lois Pulley; children, Deborah Harris Cates (Aubrey Cates Jr.), Winden Harris (Vanessa Harris), Eric Taybron, Gerald Harris, Ronnie Taybron (Michelle Taybron), Janice Harris, Michelle Taybron, 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will continue to pass down the values she held dear.

During her time on earth, Veola was a beacon of light, bringing joy and happiness to all who knew her. As we mourn the loss of Veola, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived. May her memory serve as a reminder of the importance of love, family, and community. Though she may be gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
